Gerhard and his lovely wife are the second generation of the family to hold the destiny of the WALZL in their hands – combining the best of the tradition with modernity and warmth. Gerhard is the visionary who turns his visions into reality. With a keen eye for detail and warmth of heart, it’s Petra who does the day-to-day fine tuning, without ever neglecting the importance of visual aesthetics.
“When our guests wander through the new WALZL, they’ll discover a beautiful designer piece made of natural materials at almost every turn and feel fully at ease in this stylishly furnished Alpine house.”
“The satisfaction and wellbeing of our guests is what motivates us both. And we can now proudly share our success with our two sons and the whole WALZL team.”
Gerhard and the WALZL team work every single day with complete dedication to and in partnership with their guests. But that’s not all: Gerhard is also what you might call the hub of the WALZL, welcoming and looking after the guests with tremendous attentiveness and great good humour. “It’s just lovely to see the happy and relaxed faces of our guests when they leave – this is how we know that we’ve got it right!”
The two sons, Johannes and Paul, are now also helping out in the business.
Johannes - hunter and in charge of the forestry service of the city of Innsbruck. Equipped with a rifle, charm and a passion for nature, he also enjoys taking guests on the morning stalk through his private hunting ground... You simply have to experience it. For him, there is nothing better than being out in nature and living out his love of game keeping & hunting.
His brother Paul is the sportsman, a passionate biathlete and successful at the Stams ski school. With plenty of energy and a mischievous smile, he always does his utmost for his own business, wherever he goes.
Gerhard Jennewein relates the history and tradition of the WALZL: This country inn was built in 1965 by my parents as a small coffee house. Alongside the hotel, they also ran a farm.
In 1975, the café was extended and renamed the “Gasthof Pension”. In 2000, I took over the family business with my wife Petra and have since then renovated and expanded the hotel on several occasions (examples include the construction of the play park and the guest garden etc.). The most ambitious of these renovations took place in autumn 2016.
What you now have are:
26 modern and comfortable rooms to enhance
the wellbeing of our guests
A redesigned ballroom, café & dining rooms
all of which present the hotel in a completely new light.
After lockdowns 1, 2 and 3, there was not only the prospect of the next holiday season, but also another rebuild – and a really major one this time – with many unique elements.
“It was quite clear to us: we weren’t going to squander the quiet weeks! I sat down with my wife and sons, and together we decided to turn the Landgasthof WALZL country hotel into the WALZL wellness and luxury hotel,” says Gerhard.
Beaming from ear to ear, Petra Jennewein adds: “We didn’t sit back and let the quiet weeks pass idly by: we worked with a team of architects and interior designers to make some changes.”
And the result partakes in those qualities that have always set the WALZL apart: Warmth of heart, tradition and style!
Take a look at what awaits you.
